The Intercollegiate Studies Institute is cosponsoring a debate between D’Souza, most recently the director and costar of 2016: Obama’s America, as well as the author of What’s So Great about Christianity, and Michael Shermer, editor of Skeptic magazine and author of How We Believe: Science, Skepticism, and the Search for God.
The debate is taking place at 7 pm Pacific Time at Oregon State University. It can be live-streamed here.
I would not count Shermer among the “New Atheists,” as he’s generally too civil for that crowd and attempts to craft real arguments in defense of his positions, as opposed to merely arguing from a position of haughty disdain. D’Souza is an able debater, having bested by many counts even Christopher Hitchens, no slouch he.
The debate tonight is limited to Christianity and politics, however, and not the truth claims of Christianity per se.
Here’s a video of the D’Souza-Hitchens tangle.
